Ocarina of Time remake reaches PC emulation shortly after launch
A demonstration showed graphical errors and frame-rate drops, while the Switch 2 remake earned a 96 Metascore.

PC emulation of Nintendo’s remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time emerged within hours of its Switch 2 debut. Footage shared by Unreal Gaming PC demonstrated the game on Lichii, an emulator that was barely a week old, though substantial technical problems remained.
The footage contained visual glitches, with frame rates repeatedly dropping into the 20s despite hardware including an RTX 4080 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The console edition maintains 60fps, with dynamic resolution of 1440p while docked or 1080p during handheld use. AMD FSR 1 is enabled.
Separately, Centro Leaks shared screenshots showing assets, including a character model, taken from a dumped copy. NotRexed, a user on X, claimed to have begun early work toward a PC recompilation.
The remake’s debut Metascore was 96. Perfect ratings came from outlets including Destructoid, GamesRadar, Eurogamer and The Guardian, while Forbes, IGN and GameSpot gave it 9/10. Reviewers praised the quality-of-life improvements. With a Metascore of 99, the original 1998 game still holds Metacritic’s highest rating.
