Users of Google’s original Nest Doorbell say the Google Home app is failing to display their live video feeds. Complaints concern the model previously called Nest Hello, now named Nest Doorbell (wired, 1st gen).

Several Reddit discussions have described the problem, alongside nearly a dozen threads on Google’s support forums. Reports suggest the disruption has become more widespread. Google has offered general troubleshooting responses but has not confirmed a fault or outlined a fix.

The reported failures do not appear to affect every function: owners say their Nest Hub displays continue receiving doorbell notifications normally. There are also complaints involving first-generation Nest cameras, though reports about those devices are less numerous.

An update for older Nest devices arrived at October’s end, but the cause remains unclear. Some users suspect Google’s move to WebRTC is involved; attempted workarounds based on that theory have not produced consistent results.
