Perplexity has launched “teammates,” personal AI agents that it says can take on ongoing assignments while requiring minimal supervision. The feature runs within Perplexity Computer, its cloud-based assistant, and is available exclusively to Max subscribers.

Users can allocate a separate role or assignment to each agent so multiple jobs proceed simultaneously, according to the company. Perplexity says the agents can coordinate their efforts and manage other teammates. As users add work, agents can also enlist more teammates and organize assignments for them.

The company says the agents run 24/7, notifying users when their input is needed for a decision. Computer’s sidebar gives each teammate a dedicated thread displaying its activity and finished assignments. Through those threads, users can request updates, provide additional work or change an agent’s direction.

Computer already supports tasks involving multiple steps. Perplexity describes teammates as adding capabilities for sustained work on a larger scale. Access is offered through the web and iOS, with Max costing US$200 monthly or US$2,000 annually.
