Google has introduced an Android Find Hub setting that alerts users when their phone becomes separated from a tracker. The feature, previewed in October, is called “Notify when left behind” and applies to tags and trackers.

The option has been observed on Chipolo trackers and Moto Tag with Find Hub version 3.1.787-06 for users in the US and Europe. It has not appeared for other types of devices, including headphones.

Users can enable the alerts by selecting a tag in Find Hub, then opening its settings through the gear icon. The setting automatically excludes the Home address saved in the user's Google Account through Maps.

Google initially described the capability as “Left-Behind Reminders” in Google Play services update notes. The company has also said NFC support is coming, allowing users to tap a tag with their phone to reach its details and settings or identify a lost tag.
