Nothing will begin shipping its first artificial intelligence device in December, chief executive Carl Pei announced in an essay posted on X. The work-focused product remains unnamed, with neither pricing nor a specific launch date disclosed.

Pei shared an image revealing only a dark corner of a rounded device bearing Nothing branding. He said the product has no new screen and could not have taken the form of an app, but provided little further detail about the hardware.

The announcement accompanied Pei’s argument that AI products should address workplace needs rather than chase a single breakthrough consumer gadget. He said capable AI models lack knowledge of users’ daily activities, leaving people to transfer information from email, calendars and Slack conversations into chat boxes.

Pei argued that giving AI access to that missing context would make its existing capabilities more useful. He also called for workplace tools to receive the same design attention as consumer products. Nothing, which already makes phones and earbuds, first outlined plans for AI-native devices about a year ago, according to The Verge.
