Garmin has begun distributing Beta Version 16.09 to its rugged Instinct E and Instinct 3 smartwatch lines worldwide. The update is part of the company's Beta Program, with changes that appear limited to updated translations.

The rollout covers every Instinct 3 series model using beta software. Watches on the stable software track have not moved to the new version and continue to use firmware introduced in late September.

Version 16.09 succeeds v16.07 and is the fifth beta build in the current development cycle. That sequence began with Beta Version 16.04 in mid-September, followed by three more builds before the latest update.

Garmin's previous development cycles included seven to eight builds. No date for a stable version is specified.
