ADNOC signs multiyear AI agreement with OpenAI and G42
The initial application will target oil and gas field planning, which ADNOC says could take hours rather than months.

ADNOC, Abu Dhabi’s state oil company, has agreed to introduce AI agents across its business through a multiyear partnership with OpenAI and G42. Announced during OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s UAE visit, the agreement has no disclosed financial value or deployment date.
The partnership will use OpenAI Frontier, a platform introduced in February for businesses to create and manage AI agents. Systems developed under the agreement will combine ADNOC’s industrial data with OpenAI models and operate on computing infrastructure supplied by G42 in the UAE.
Field development planning will be the first application. ADNOC says AI could generate a full development plan within hours instead of the months now required. Responsibility for overseeing major decisions will stay with human experts.
The partners also intend to link production, refining, sales and trading. Before oil is extracted, AI agents will assess factors including prices, supply, demand and profit margins to support decisions across ADNOC’s operations.
Employee training and cybersecurity work under OpenAI’s Daybreak Blue program are also included. ADNOC says more than 40,000 employees already have ChatGPT Enterprise, while its existing technology work includes over 200 AI applications and 70 robotics projects, either operational or being developed.
