The animation has appeared for some users in the post composer, but X has not publicly explained its purpose.
Some X users reported an animated arm briefly appearing as they prepared posts, directing attention toward a button for paid promotion. User posts and screenshots shared on October 27, 2026, showed the animation inside the app's post composer.
The control, labeled “promote,” is available in the composer for accounts subscribed to X Premium. The animation did not appear to have reached every account, and the extent of its availability was unclear.
Users expressed surprise and confusion over the arm. Some questioned whether its appearance was connected to Halloween or whether it would continue appearing when they tried to publish posts.
X had not publicly addressed the animation or confirmed why it was appearing. A company representative did not immediately answer a request for comment.
