Turn 10, the developer behind Forza Motorsport, will be renamed Playground Games Redmond as it is absorbed into Playground Games, The Verge reported, citing an internal memo it obtained. Studio co-founder and Forza co-creator Dan Greenawalt is also retiring after 27 years at Microsoft.

Microsoft announced the studios’ merger in September. Under the new arrangement, the former Turn 10 developers will help their British colleagues work on Forza Horizon and the forthcoming fantasy role-playing game Fable.

According to The Verge, the memo from Playground Games head Trevor Williams recognizes Greenawalt’s contribution to creating Forza. Greenawalt is expected to remain available to advise the studio’s new leadership through the transition.

Turn 10 was established in 2001 and developed eight Forza Motorsport games, with the first arriving in 2005. The Motorsport series centers on realistic racing on circuits, while Playground Games’ Forza Horizon offers an open-world setting and a more arcade-style driving experience.
