Indie game publisher Pantaloon has launched the Playbill, a subscription service whose initial catalog includes Buckshot Roulette, Silt and games from its own publishing lineup. Pantaloon says it will exclude any game that uses generative AI.

The paid Primo plan costs $5 per month or $60 per year. Annual subscribers can claim the 13 launch games and every title added afterward. Monthly subscribers receive one designated game each month rather than choosing it themselves, though some puzzles offer a choice of rewards.

Access to the full catalog opens to monthly subscribers after six consecutive months. Founder Jamin Smith told Engadget that the delay is intended to stop people from collecting the entire selection immediately and then canceling.

The Playbill distributes game keys, with titles leaving the service when their keys run out. Pantaloon says it will regularly introduce games and make its own releases available at launch. Its initial offerings also include the timed exclusive Virtue: Prologue, a companion visual novella to Virtue and a Sledgehammer.

A section named the Green Room contains demos, playtests and abandoned prototypes. Puzzles, community features, Virtue: Prologue and a couple of alternate reality games are available without a paid subscription. Pantaloon previously built a newsletter audience exceeding 50,000 subscribers before moving into publishing.
