Average compensation for OpenAI’s 110 London employees reached about £2.3 million in 2025, including salary and shares, according to The Guardian’s reporting on OpenAI UK Ltd accounts. The reported average for the previous year was £1.1 million.

Salaries totaled £87 million, while shares accounted for £168 million, The Guardian said. It put the average package at 58 times median earnings for a full-time UK employee, based on Office for National Statistics data. The newspaper reported wide differences in pay, with researchers building the company’s AI models receiving the largest packages.

The Guardian also reported that OpenAI UK Ltd’s turnover rose to £293 million in 2025, more than trebling, while profit reached £20.3 million. OpenAI declined to comment to the newspaper. TNW said it had not independently verified the figures.

London serves as OpenAI’s biggest research hub outside its home country, with government affairs, sales and marketing staff also based there. The company has a Westminster office and is opening a new headquarters in King’s Cross, where Google DeepMind is based.
