BYD introduced its Yangwang Altior luxury sedan in Abu Dhabi, opening preorders for a four-seat launch edition limited to 399 vehicles worldwide. The company is positioning the model against the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and Bentley Flying Spur.

Reservations require a ¥300,000 deposit. The expected purchase price is ¥2,080,000, although that figure remains provisional. A version with five seats is planned for later.

BYD said the Altior uses its Blade 2 battery and flash megawatt charging technology, and quoted a CLTC range exceeding 1,000 km. Details of the powertrain remain unclear, including whether the stated range would be achieved solely on battery power.

The sedan has a 3,500 mm wheelbase and measures 5,600 mm long, 2,030 mm wide and 1,590 mm high. Its rear compartment features two separate seats with leg rests, holders for champagne glasses and controls in a central console.

Other features include powered privacy shades and coach doors opening to almost 90 degrees, with umbrellas stored inside the panels. The launch edition adds Hetian jade around the vents, speaker grilles finished in gold and aramid fiber within the doors.
