App readout points to QLC storage in 1TB iPhone Duo

The component identification has not been independently verified, and the phone’s storage performance remains untested.

A photo posted by Weibo blogger WHYLAB suggests that Apple’s 1TB iPhone Duo contains QLC NAND storage supplied by SK Hynix. The phone became available on October 23, with the 1TB configuration priced at US$2,599.

The identification comes from a third-party iOS diagnostic app visible in the photo, rather than an independently verified component examination. Apple’s specifications do not disclose NAND cell types, and its use of multiple storage suppliers means components can differ across units.

WHYLAB said TLC NAND is used only in the 256GB and 512GB configurations. That claim would also place QLC in the 2TB version, although the photo provides a readout for just the 1TB phone.

Separate testing by Bilibili channel HOMOLAB found that a 1TB iPhone 18 Pro Max averaged 79.4 MB/s in raw QLC writes after its caches were depleted. The Duo shares the A20 Pro chip with the iPhone 18 Pro models, but no storage benchmarks have yet established its cache capacity or sustained writing performance.

The Duo’s other configurations cost US$1,999 for 256GB, US$2,199 for 512GB and US$3,199 for 2TB.
