Zelda-themed Switch 2 consoles and Pro Controllers with replaceable batteries are reaching customers in the EU, Notebookcheck reported. The hardware changes make internal components easier to access, although Nintendo has not confirmed improved serviceability for its 40th Anniversary lineup.

Images posted by Reddit user Giga-Hurtz show a handheld and Joy-Con 2 in green, gold and black. Two screws on the magnetic attachment rails provide access to the console’s battery. Notebookcheck reported that adhesive does not hold the battery in place and that the heat shield does not obstruct repairs.

Separately, Nintendeal shared images of the standalone Pro Controller on social media. The controller carries the marking BEE-008 (-01) and has a cover along its upper edge. Removing two Phillips screws allows easier access to components beneath the housing.

Notebookcheck reported trade-offs: the handheld is heavier and has slightly less battery capacity. The controller is lighter but may require more frequent charging. Model numbers for the revised hardware also appeared in a recent FCC listing, according to Notebookcheck.
