Wyze launches Solar Cam with 2K video for $69.98
Wyze says the outdoor camera’s solar panel needs an hour of direct sunlight to maintain its battery charge.
Wyze has introduced an outdoor security camera, the Solar Cam, priced at $69.98 with a solar panel included. The company says an hour of direct sunlight is enough for the panel to keep the camera charged, avoiding the need for manual recharging.
The camera records at 2304 x 1296 resolution, described as 2K, and offers a 130-degree viewing angle. Its features include night vision in color, an integrated spotlight rated at 100 lumen and the option to record locally using a microSD card.
A 5,200 mAh battery supports operation when bad weather or an obstruction prevents the 1.77W panel from receiving sunlight. Wyze previously made the same sunlight requirement claim for its Solar Cam Pan.
The Solar Cam is available to buy, and Wyze also offers a version without the solar panel for $10 less. The launch follows the company’s announcement of a new weight scale.
