WhatsApp developing optional browser for iPhone chat links
Users would retain the choice of opening links in their default browser, according to WABetaInfo.

WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp is working on an optional browser for its iPhone app, designed to open any link shared in a chat within WhatsApp rather than send users to a separate browser.
The proposed control, labeled “In-app browser,” would appear in the Chats section of Settings. Users could switch the feature on or keep using their default browser to open links.
The feature would include controls for deleting cookies, cache and other browsing data. It would broaden WhatsApp’s existing browser support, which covers certain business links.
