Strava updates route search and offline tools, plans audio directions
The exercise-tracking platform says subscribers will soon receive turn-by-turn audio guidance for walks, hikes and runs.

Strava said it is rolling out changes to route search, route listings and offline access for outdoor activities. The exercise-tracking platform also announced plans for audio navigation and browser-based route discovery.
In the Maps tab, users can look up routes by name or search for points of interest. The company said searches can use everyday language, with results matched to the user's intent. It also said it has expanded its route selection and revised route cards to show photos and activity information contributed by users.
Saved routes now appear on the home screen when users are offline. Users can also begin and save workouts without a connection, with completed activities uploading once service returns.
Subscribers will soon receive spoken, turn-by-turn directions for walking, hiking and running, Strava said. Further planned changes include community-written route descriptions and tags identifying points of interest, as well as tools for browsing routes and maps on the web.
