4A Games and Deep Silver have made a free upgrade available for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Released October 29, it adds a native 4K option running at 60fps, alongside upscaled 4K reaching up to 120fps where hardware supports it.

The changes cover lighting, textures, animation, shadows and environmental details. Platform-specific additions include PSSR upscaling for PS5 Pro. On Xbox, the upgrade brings Play Anywhere compatibility, feedback through Impulse Triggers and optimizations for ROG Xbox Ally handhelds.

Deep Silver’s patch notes say saves from the Microsoft Store version cannot be transferred to the upgraded games. Players may begin again or jump to a chapter because every chapter is unlocked. Choosing a chapter gives players default equipment instead of the inventory they previously held.

The PC update arrived October 22 with DLSS support, spatial audio and frame rates without a cap. The upgrades precede Metro 2039, which is scheduled for February 4, 2027.
