Apple reportedly raises iPhone Duo orders by roughly 44%
The reported target covers 12 months, as Apple's first foldable iPhone approaches its October 23 launch with U.S. shipping estimates already stretching into January.

Apple has reportedly increased its iPhone Duo order target to 14 million devices after strong pre-orders, according to DigiTimes. Supply chain sources cited by the publication said instructions sent to Foxconn and component suppliers represented a roughly 44% rise from the previous 9.7 million target.
The higher figure covers a full 12 months, not just what remains of 2026. Apple's first foldable iPhone is scheduled to go on sale October 23, with U.S. prices starting at US$1,999.
Apple has described demand as extraordinary. Pre-orders opened October 16, and within 30 minutes, estimated U.S. shipping dates for every configuration had moved to January 25.
Whether suppliers can meet the increased shipment target remains dependent on assembly progress, DigiTimes said. Earlier reports had identified manufacturing problems involving assembly, displays and hinges.
DigiTimes also projects global foldable smartphone shipments will rise 25.7% in 2026 and 59.1% in 2027, following 7.4% growth in 2025. It expects Apple's arrival in the category to contribute to that expansion.
