Android 16 accounts for over 25% of active Android devices, making it the most widely used version in Google’s latest distribution figures. Android 17 has reached 1%, roughly four months after its June release for Pixel phones.

The data, updated October 19, shows a larger share for Android 16 than Google’s previous figures from December 2025/January 2026. That update put the version at 7.5%, several months after its release.

The figures arrive as manufacturers including Samsung have begun distributing Android 17 more widely. The new version’s availability on Pixel phones dates to June, but Samsung’s broader rollout began more recently.

Older versions continue to account for part of the active device base. Google’s figures put Android 11 above 10% and Android 12 at 9.6%. Google also removed Android 5, known as Lollipop, from the distribution data; Android 5.1 remains listed with a 0.2% share.
