Blizzard is letting players try Talebound, an upcoming mode for World of Warcraft, free until November 2 at 10am PDT. The limited demo is available through the game's Public Test Realm (PTR), and access does not depend on having a paid subscription.

Designed around action RPG gameplay, Talebound offers a dark fantasy setting called Quillgrave. A mysterious Storyteller brings adventurers into sinister tales. The mode is due to join the Midnight expansion through its forthcoming Echoes of the Worldcore update, though a date for the full release has not been confirmed.

The playable selection includes the Witch, Slayer and Inquisitor classes. Players can explore Greywake's Expedition, Darkhaven and Greenthistle Wood, choosing among Heroic, Normal and Veteran difficulty levels. Each adventure supports either solo play or co-op with friends.

Access requires a Battle.net account, a capable PC and a separate installation of the PTR client. In the Battle.net desktop app, players select World of Warcraft and then choose Public Test Realm (Retail) as the game version to download.
