Microsoft says Windows 11 26H2 is now accessible to all eligible devices. Updated installation guidance includes PCs running Windows 11 25H2 or 24H2, plus compatible Windows 10 machines using the latest version through the extended support program.

For users with up-to-date Windows 10 builds, Microsoft confirmed that upgrading to the latest Windows edition still carries no charge. Earlier Windows 10 versions are no longer covered by that offer, although the company had previously included them.

The September 29, 2026, launch brought 26H2 to both x86-64 and Arm CPU architectures under the official name Windows 11 2026 Update. Microsoft says the update is intended to minimize disruption and improve stability and compatibility compared with previous releases. It activates features left dormant in earlier versions.

Windows 10's scheduled end of life came in 2025. Microsoft has since extended support options, with home users able to obtain official security updates at no cost until October 2027.
