WhatsApp has announced four group-chat updates covering message filtering, pinned posts, conversation history and status sharing. The company said the features are rolling out, though availability may take time to reach all users.

A new “Mentions and replies” option will filter the conversation list to unread group chats containing a mention of the user or a direct reply to them. WhatsApp said the filter also includes @all messages. Users can find it by swiping down on their conversation list, alongside existing options for groups, favorites, unread chats and custom filters.

Group members will also be able to leave messages pinned indefinitely. Previously, they had to select a duration of 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.

Another change allows recent messages to be shared with someone after they have entered a group by tapping their name within the chat. That sharing option was previously available only while adding the person.

The status feature lets users share updates exclusively with a particular group's members. Those members can view the updates, react and contribute statuses of their own. The posts disappear after 24 hours.
