Mischief 1 costs US$0.005 per second of video. TBC claims a fivefold speed advantage over Wan 2.2 but has not published independent benchmarks.

Research on living brain cells helped shape TBC Mischief 1, a newly released tool for turning images into short videos, according to its developer, The Biological Computing Co. The San Francisco startup charges US$0.005 per second of video.

TBC says Mischief 1 operates about five times faster than the Alibaba open video model Wan 2.2, on which it is based, without sacrificing quality. Independent benchmarks substantiating that performance claim have not been published by the company. Developers can access the model through fal or OpenRouter.

The company's approach keeps the living neurons inside its laboratory rather than using them to run the model. TBC examines how networks of lab-grown neurons react to signals and uses those findings to develop a compact software addition for conventional AI chips.

Before introducing Mischief 1, TBC struck a September agreement with Amazon Web Services covering sales of its models to business customers.
