RPCS3 adds Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) to playable PC games
A synchronization fix leaves the emulator’s database with no known issues for the Sega title, the RPCS3 team said.

Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) can now be completed on PCs using RPCS3, according to the team behind the PlayStation 3 emulator. The developers announced on X that the game had received the database’s “Playable” classification after its remaining emulation problem was fixed.
The classification means a game can be played from beginning to end with good performance. RPCS3’s database now lists no known issues for the title, which is also known as Sonic ‘06.
The team credited lead developer elad335 with correcting a synchronization problem involving SPU MMIO emulation. The change aligns the PPU’s return from an SPU SNR push event with the SPU waking up.
RPCS3 now classifies 79.95% of the PS3 library as “Playable.” Its “Intro” category contains 27 games (0.73%), while 697 games (19.32%) are classified as “Ingame.” Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) originally debuted on Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 as a franchise reboot featuring 3D levels and multiple playable characters.
