Nintendo’s updated Switch 2 model in Europe retains its existing display despite changes that simplify battery replacement, according to Notebookcheck. A teardown found that the examined unit did not contain a Sharp LCD screen that had surfaced in online listings.

Technician modyfikatorcasper compared the revised OSM-CPU-01 motherboard with the earlier BEE-CPU-01 design. The Nvidia system-on-chip is unchanged, and memory remains at 12 GB, although its manufacturer has changed. Notebookcheck also reported a replacement fan that may have a slight effect on cooling.

The battery compartment now allows replacement without removing adhesive first. Notebookcheck said the hardware complies with EU right-to-repair rules. Innolux produces the display currently installed, while Sharp supplies its glass.

Nintendo Patents Watch spotted a 7.9-inch screen identified as LS079T1SX10P on a Chinese marketplace in late June. It would support 1080p resolution, and circuitry changes suggested potentially faster pixel response. Larger quantities of a similar component subsequently appeared under the labels LS0DAS7081 and V2.

When Nintendo might adopt that screen remains unclear. Patents Watch also found an FCC entry for model BEE-001(-01), which Notebookcheck cited as a possible sign of availability beyond Europe.
