OpenAI president Greg Brockman expects the company to be ready for a stock market listing in 2027, according to Reuters. He made the remarks during a Wall Street Journal technology conference in Napa, California. OpenAI has not announced a date for an IPO.

Brockman also said corporate customers now provide the majority of OpenAI’s sales. Reuters reported no figures from him for either overall revenue or the proportion contributed by those customers.

OpenAI submitted a draft prospectus confidentially to US regulators in June. Bloomberg subsequently reported that the company was considering a market debut in 2027.

The shift toward business sales follows OpenAI’s efforts to attract corporate clients, a market where it competes with Anthropic. Its coding agent Codex has played a central role in that push. Brockman has said the company wants to combine ChatGPT and Codex in a single agentic platform.

Anthropic also made a confidential IPO filing in June. Reuters expects its listing before the end of the year. Microsoft and SoftBank are among OpenAI’s investors.
