OpenAI has added plugins that connect ChatGPT to iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar, allowing the chatbot to handle email and calendar tasks. The company said the integrations let users send messages and create or change calendar events through ChatGPT.

Calendar access covers events displayed in the iPhone Calendar app, as well as those in third-party apps connected to iCloud Calendar. ChatGPT can read existing events, schedule new ones and update entries.

The email plugin supports searching and reading messages, managing mail and drafts, sending email and finding iCloud contacts. Its access is limited to iCloud Mail: Gmail, Outlook and other accounts displayed in Apple's iOS Mail app are not included. iCloud email addresses end in @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com.

Users need to generate an app-specific password for each integration. Both plugins are available across every ChatGPT plan on the web, desktop and iOS. The iCloud connections can also be used with OpenAI's proactive AI agent, Dots.
