Microsoft 365 Family moves to 2TB of shared cloud storage
The subscription price remains unchanged, while existing members face a phased transition tied to renewal dates.

Microsoft has changed its Microsoft 365 Family subscription to provide 2TB of cloud storage shared among members. Before October 8, each member received 1TB, allowing a subscription to provide up to 6TB. The price remains $13 a month or $130 a year.
For existing subscribers who joined before October 8, the shared allowance will take effect with their first renewal from May 2, 2027, onward. Microsoft says it will notify subscribers with further details before their storage arrangements change.
Changing plans before that renewal could bring forward the transition. Moving to Microsoft 365 Premium, for example, may trigger shared storage immediately. Subscribers moving from Premium to Family will retain their current storage arrangement until renewal on or after May 2. Premium subscriptions are also covered by the storage changes.
Family subscriptions support up to six members and include access to applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and OneDrive. AI and CoPilot features are restricted to the subscription owner. Premium includes the Family offering and additional advanced AI features, also limited to the administrator.
Subscribers can purchase up to 10TB of additional capacity through storage packs sized at 100GB, 500GB, 1TB or 6TB. The subscription owner can allocate those extra packs to individual members.
