iPhone Duo lacks FaceTime’s Eye Contact option
MacRumors confirmed the omission and has asked Apple for a technical explanation.

The iPhone Duo does not offer FaceTime’s Eye Contact setting, MacRumors reported after confirming an observation from its forum member TwoBytes. The user had noticed that their gaze appeared misaligned during a video call.
Apple introduced Eye Contact with iOS 14. The feature applies machine learning to adjust how a caller’s eyes appear, creating the impression that they are facing the camera rather than watching the other participant on the display.
The Duo has neither Face ID nor a TrueDepth camera. However, MacRumors noted that iPhone SE models equipped with Touch ID offer the setting. On the Duo’s inner screen, the camera sits beneath the display toward its right side, rather than near the center.
The camera’s position in relation to the user’s gaze varies with the display being used and the device’s folding position. Separately, Apple allows Eye Tracking, its gaze-controlled accessibility feature, only while the Duo is completely open, according to MacRumors.
