The feature is rolling out gradually, but Google has not detailed the setup process or given a date for availability across eligible devices.

Google says Quick Share is gaining a feature that automatically backs up Android photos and videos to Windows PCs. The addition is listed under Google Play services version 26.43 in the company's November system services notes, dated November 2.

Quick Share currently supports wireless file transfers between Windows PCs and Android devices. The new capability will automate media transfers, allowing users to maintain a local copy without manually sending their photos and videos. Google has not yet published detailed setup instructions.

Device eligibility remains unclear. Android Authority's examination of unreleased app code suggested Samsung phones could be excluded, with a subsequent finding indicating Samsung PCs might also be left out. Google's notes do not specify either restriction, though initial access could be limited to Pixel devices.

Availability is expanding gradually, so installing the latest Google Play services version does not guarantee immediate access to the backup feature. Google has not announced when all users with eligible hardware will receive it.
