Gigabyte has unveiled the WRX90 AI TOP for AI workstations, pairing support for as much as 2 TB of ECC DDR5 memory with expansion connections used in a nine-GPU demonstration. The company showed that configuration at Computex 2026, attaching two graphics cards externally through MCIO 8i interfaces.

Seven full-length expansion slots use PCIe 5.0 and connect directly to the processor. Of those, six deliver x16 bandwidth; the remaining slot runs at x8. The external MCIO connections can also accommodate storage or other PCIe devices.

The board combines the AMD WRX90 chipset with an sTR5 socket for Ryzen Threadripper PRO processors in the 9000 WX and 7000 WX series. Eight memory channels serve eight DDR5 RDIMM slots. Gigabyte claims its two-fan DDR Wind Blade XTREME Duo cooler can cut memory temperatures by as much as 43 °C. Active cooling also covers the chipset and voltage regulator modules.

For storage, Gigabyte provides three M.2 slots—two using PCIe 5.0 and one using PCIe 4.0—alongside four SATA ports. A bandwidth-sharing restriction means one MCIO connector cannot operate simultaneously with both PCIe 5.0 M.2 connections.

Networking uses dual Intel X710 10GbE, while an ASPEED AST2600 controller provides IPMI remote management. The E-ATX board measures 305 × 330 mm. Gigabyte has disclosed neither a price nor a date for retail availability.
