Foxconn explores further OpenAI partnership, chairman says
Details remain undisclosed as the companies discuss a potential agreement following their November 2025 collaboration on AI hardware.

Foxconn and OpenAI are working toward a new partnership, Reuters reported, citing comments by Foxconn Chairman Young Liu at an annual company technology event in Taipei. Liu said he had met OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman but offered no specifics about the discussions.
The agreement would be announced after its terms were finalized, Liu said. OpenAI has offered no comment. The potential deal would extend a relationship that already includes collaboration on hardware for AI data centers.
Their November 2025 agreement covered designing successive generations of data center racks. Foxconn also outlined plans for US manufacturing of cables, power equipment and cooling systems. OpenAI did not commit to purchases under that arrangement, instead receiving access for early hardware testing and the option to purchase it.
Foxconn also manufactures AI servers for Nvidia and is considering an expansion of its six factory buildings in Houston, Texas. Its cloud and networking business, which includes those servers, generated 51% of second-quarter revenue—the first time the division contributed more than half.
The Taiwanese electronics manufacturer has separately formed a partnership with Schneider Electric involving AI infrastructure equipment, adding another supplier relationship in the data center market.
