An unnamed Prince of Persia fan has proposed providing more than €5 million for Ubisoft to restart and complete its canceled remake of The Sands of Time, according to a letter posted on Reddit. Ubisoft has not responded to the offer.

The letter asks how to submit the financing proposal through an official channel. Its author says the aim is to see the game completed, rather than receive profits, a portion of sales or rights to the intellectual property.

The fan acknowledges that restarting development is Ubisoft's decision and says they would not seek influence over creative choices or company decisions. Ubisoft announced the project's cancellation in January, after development lasting over 5 years.

The franchise's recent releases include Ubisoft's 2024 game Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Despite a positive reception, it fell short of the company's expectations, leading to a sequel's cancellation and the breakup of its development team.
