Developer shows PS5 debug access on firmware 14.10, but hurdles remain

The exploit remains private, and a bypass needed to create and run game backups is not working, Notebookcheck reported.

Homebrew developer Gezine has posted a video demonstrating access to debug settings on a PlayStation 5 running firmware 14.10, according to Notebookcheck. The developer claims to have bypassed protections introduced by Sony, though the demonstration does not establish that game backups can be created or run.

A key limitation is the failure of the commonly used hypervisor bypass, which is needed for those backup functions. The exploit is also private, and whether Gezine will make the files available remains unclear.

The development comes ahead of GTA 6’s November 19th release date. Notebookcheck said a reported datamine of PlayStation’s backend indicated that the game would need firmware 14.10. That software had impeded both the Relapse exploit and the Byepervisor Reborn bypass.

Earlier homebrew progress included Relapse gaining compatibility with firmware 13.60 in late July, before versions 14.00 and 14.10 blocked exploits. Despite Gezine’s latest demonstration, a functional backup of GTA 6 is not guaranteed, Notebookcheck reported.
