Databricks said it will add four AI and data tools to SAP Databricks as part of an expanded partnership announced at SAP’s TechEd conference in Berlin. SAP also introduced Application Data Foundation to simplify access to information held in its business software.

The additions include the AI assistant Genie and Lakeflow, which creates data pipelines. Unity Gateway provides controls over AI agents and their costs, while Lakebase serves as a database for AI applications. SAP Databricks has operated within SAP’s Business Data Cloud since its February 2025 launch.

Databricks also plans to connect Genie to SAP’s Joule assistant, allowing responses to appear within SAP applications. The companies did not announce when the tools or the assistant connection would become available.

SAP’s new data foundation covers business information stored both in the cloud and on customers’ own servers. According to Databricks, companies previously needed custom pipelines to extract that information, with business context being lost in the process.

Trailer parts manufacturer SAF-Holland said its analyses now run five times faster after it brought more than 100 million records into SAP Databricks.
