Bose buys Skullcandy in consumer audio expansion
The purchase price was not disclosed. Skullcandy will retain its own brand and its base in Park City, Utah.

Headphone and speaker maker Skullcandy has been acquired by Bose, which will keep it as a distinct brand within its consumer audio operations. Financial terms of the purchase were not announced.
The deal follows several years of collaboration between the audio companies. Products Skullcandy has introduced under the “Sound by Bose” label include the recent Skullcandy Crusher 1080 headphones.
Skullcandy’s operations will remain in Park City, Utah, its founding location. Bose said increased access to its resources and technology should help Skullcandy develop and grow.
Skullcandy’s connections across sports, gaming, music and fitness could help Bose reach audiences in areas where its presence is smaller.
Bose CEO Lila Snyder said the company is pursuing more ways to reach listeners. Alongside its own products, she said, that effort includes partnerships involving its technology and an expanding portfolio of brands.
