Apple Music subscribers can stream directly through compatible Bluesound audio equipment following a free BluOS software update launched on October 20. The integration removes the need to send music from an iPhone or iPad using AirPlay 2.

Subscribers access the service by signing into Apple Music through the BluOS Controller app. The audio player then retrieves the stream rather than relying on the mobile device to handle playback. AirPlay 2 remains an option for listeners.

The addition lets households manage Apple Music across multiple rooms within BluOS. Listeners can group devices to play music together or select separate music for different rooms. Bluesound's product range includes wireless speakers, soundbars and components for connecting existing hi-fi systems.

Support also covers compatible BluOS products made by Monitor Audio, Cyrus, DALI Loudspeakers, PSB Speakers and NAD Electronics. Bluesound has not disclosed what streaming quality the Apple Music integration provides.
