AI inference startup Baseten is set to raise about $2 billion in financing that could value it at $30 billion, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the plans. That would more than double the $13 billion valuation Bloomberg reported for its June funding.

The planned financing has two tranches, carrying valuations of $26 billion and $30 billion, according to Bloomberg’s sources. Sands Capital, which already backs Baseten, is expected to lead. TNW said it had not independently verified Bloomberg’s report.

Baseten provides software for companies to run AI models in production, a process called inference. On 22 June, it announced a $1.5 billion Series F led by Altimeter Capital, Conviction Partners and Spark Capital, with Sands Capital also co-leading. Baseten said then that revenue had increased 20 times over a year.

Founded in 2019, Baseten also released an open decision model called joey-1, priced at a penny per million tokens. Rival Fireworks AI, described by Bloomberg as Baseten’s closest competitor, raised $1.5 billion in July with a valuation of $17.5 billion.
