Apple has reached an agreement with Ascension Labs, Inc., known as Ascend.io, involving employee recruitment and access to intellectual property, according to an update on the EU’s acquisitions list. The startup develops agentic AI technology for data engineering.

Apple’s disclosure says the agreement allows it to offer jobs to certain Ascension Labs employees and hire them. It also provides a non-exclusive license covering Ascend’s intellectual property and allows certain company patents to be assigned to Apple.

The disclosure appears on the EU’s List of Acquisitions website. Under the Digital Markets Act, Apple is required to disclose acquisitions that exceed a certain size.
