Apple has released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, bringing the first major updates to its phone and tablet operating systems since their September launch. The iPhone update extends Siri AI support to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.

According to Apple's update notes, Siri AI can refer back to earlier conversations and use additional personal information when answering questions. Those sources include voicemail, photos sent through Messages and details about Calendar attendees. Users can also control which apps are accessible to Siri, Search and suggestions through an Excluded Apps setting.

Siri AI remains unavailable in the European Union and mainland China. Supported phones are all iPhone 16 models and later, plus the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Other changes include conversation-based suggestions in Messages for actions involving Calendar and Reminders, household profiles in Apple TV, and refreshed Apple Music branding. FaceTime gains support for a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner. In the EU, the update adds an alternative, expanded App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Separate notes for iPhone Duo list Apple Pencil compatibility and Edge Light, which illuminates the user's face on video calls. Both operating system updates support every device compatible with their respective version 27 systems, including iPhone Duo and the newly announced OLED iPad mini. Downloads are available through Software Update in Settings. Apple also issued iOS 26.7.2 with security updates.
