Apple has introduced a 14-inch MacBook Pro using its M6 chip, replacing the M5 version as the entry model in the MacBook Pro range. Prices begin at US$1,999, and customers can place preorders from October 28.

The starting configuration includes 16GB of unified memory alongside 1TB of storage. Silver and space black are the available finishes, with the first orders scheduled to arrive on Friday, November 6.

Apple says the M6 has a 12-core CPU and offers improved performance and on-device AI capabilities. Wireless connectivity moves to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6; the preceding model used Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

Connections include three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI and MagSafe 3, plus a headphone jack and an SD card slot. The laptop also has a 12MP Center Stage camera.

With a compatible higher-wattage USB-C adapter, such as the 96W Power Adapter, the laptop can reach up to 50 percent charge in 30 minutes. Apple continues to sell MacBook Pro models equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
