Apple and Meta enable Muse Spark Open to run on Mac Studio desktops
Meta says two M5 Ultra-equipped machines can hold the entire open-weight model, which has 816bn parameters.

Meta’s new open-weight AI model, Muse Spark Open, can run on Apple’s Mac Studio desktops following joint work by the companies. Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg disclosed the collaboration on X, with Apple CEO John Ternus responding to acknowledge the effort.
Meta puts the model’s size at 816bn parameters, of which 42bn are active at once. Its desktop setup requires two Mac Studios using M5 Ultra chips and Apple’s MLX framework. According to Meta, up to 512GB of memory is available to the graphics processor in each computer, giving a pair enough capacity for the model.
CNBC reported that connecting between two and four computers allows users to perform coding, video analysis and agent tasks. Axios said processing on the machines keeps users’ prompts out of Meta’s view. Apple has also provided technical information explaining how to run large models across multiple Macs.
The effort took several months, Meta chief AI officer Alexandr Wang told Axios. He credited Daniel Gross, formerly an Apple director and now at Meta, with helping bring the companies together. CNBC reported that both companies declined to say whether their work would develop into a deeper relationship.
