His institutional affiliations extend to Glen Cove Hospital (where he is Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery), Northwell Health Physician Partners Orthopaedic Institute at Glen Cove, North Shore University Hospital Syosset, Northwell Health Orthopaedic Institute, and Katz Institute for Women's Health.

In his approach to orthopaedics, Dr. Steinvurzel takes the time to educate his patients about their specific ailments so that they can help make informed decisions on their care. While he treats a wide variety of orthopaedic conditions, his area of specialty is in sports medicine with a focus on conditions of the shoulder and knee. 

Having been fortunate to have treated athletes of all levels, from professional to collegiate to high school to recreational, Dr. Steinvurzel currently serves as team physician for the athletic teams at Great Neck North, Great Neck South, and Glen Cove High Schools. 

Holding an academic appointment, he is an Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

His acclaimed career in medicine began at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He later pursued a residency at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Ctr/Brooklyn-Queens, followed by an arthroscopy and sports medicine fellowship at San Diego Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center.

With various areas of interest, Dr. Steinvurzel is board certified in both orthopaedic surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.

On a professional front, Dr. Steinvurzel is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of both the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
